Randy Sparks is the Chair of the Kaufman & Canoles Labor and Employment section and the Co-Chair of the firm’s Government & Municipal Law practice group. For over two decades, Randy has concentrated his practice on the representation of employers of all sizes and industries in all types of work-related matters in the courts and administrative agencies of Virginia, DC, and Maryland and before federal administrative agencies around the country. Although a large portion of his practice involves the defense of employment litigation matters, Randy also regularly advises and trains clients on lawful employment practices and other workplace issues.
For 2024, Randy was named a “Go To Lawyer” for employment law by Virginia Lawyers Weekly. Randy has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America since 2010, was named a Virginia Super Lawyer for Employee Litigation Defense from 2015 to 2019, and, since 2019, has been honored as one of “Virginia’s Legal Elite” by Virginia Business Magazine.
Randy is an active member and Legislative Affairs Representative of the Fredericksburg Regional chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management and is the outside legal partner for SHRM Virginia and DC. Randy is a frequent speaker at the HR Virginia State Conference and SHRM chapters around Virginia and provides quarterly HR training seminars for business owners and HR professionals through the University of Mary Washington Small Business Development Center. Randy graduated from the University of Virginia and the College of William & Mary School of Law.
